Insurance Agent — Coverage-Gap Premortem
The parent premortem imagines the failure and works backward. In insurance the failure is a denied/underpaid claim because of a gap — which harms the client and exposes the agent to an E&O suit. Premortem finds the gaps while they're still fixable.

How it works
Imagine a claim was denied/underpaid — why? - Limits too low (dwelling underinsured, liability under net worth) → recommend umbrella. - Exclusions bite (flood, earthquake, business-use, water backup) not disclosed/added. - Coverage type wrong (ACV vs replacement cost). - Life changes not reflected (new business, teen driver, home addition, rental). - Document every recommendation the client declined (E&O defense).
When to use it
- an insurance agent should stress-test a client's coverage before a claim exposes a gap
- 'is this client actually covered', policy review, exclusions/limits/underinsurance
When not to use it
no coverage is being placed or reviewed.
