── Solutions / Cross-border filings

Foreign-asset filings, drafted with their evidence. Signed by you.

FBAR, Form 8938 and Form 5471 are high-stakes forms whose thresholds turn on each account's highest balance during the year, not its year-end balance. deciqAI runs the FBAR and Form 8938 tests against your client's actual statements, drafts the fields it can source and marks the ones it cannot, and stops at the exceptions that need a professional judgment.

How it works

Step 1

Last year's return, this year's statements

The client uploads through one link — statements, brokerage summaries, last year's return including any FBAR or 8938 already filed. The agent reads them and builds an account inventory per client.

Step 2

Thresholds tested, not guessed

FBAR and Form 8938 tests run against the actual balances — each account valued at its highest point during the year, summed, and which test that crosses. Form 5471 and other forms are flagged with what was observed, for you to determine. Cross-year changes surface too: an account reported last year that is missing this year, a balance that jumped, a new entity interest.

Step 3

A field-level draft, with what it could not source marked

Field-level drafts for FBAR and Form 8938, each account carrying whether it came from last year's return, this year's documents, or both. Anything the agent could not confirm is listed as a field needing confirmation rather than filled in.

Step 4

You review, you sign

The draft lands in your review queue with the exceptions on top. Approve, send back to the client for more, or open the workpaper. Nothing leaves the practice without your approval, and every action is logged.

Who it's for

CPA & EA practices

Especially bilingual and cross-border practices, where a single client can carry accounts in two countries and the trigger analysis eats an afternoon. Your clients arrive organized; you spend the time on judgment, not data entry.

Business owners with foreign assets

Accounts, directly held foreign stock, partnership and fund interests, or family assets abroad — Form 8938 reaches things FBAR does not. See which filings are likely triggered and what is still missing, early enough to gather it.

Green card holders, and visa holders who meet the substantial presence test

Foreign bank, brokerage, or retirement accounts from before you arrived. One inventory instead of a March scramble, with the thresholds shown against your own balances. Whether you are a US tax resident at all is the first question, and it is your CPA's to answer.

What this is — and isn't

This is software that organizes documents, tests thresholds against the figures in them, and drafts fields with every value traced to a source you provided. It does not give tax advice, does not decide filing positions, and does not prepare, sign, or file returns. Judgment calls — PFIC treatment, foreign gifts, entity ownership, whether a form is in fact required — are flagged for the licensed professional, never answered by the software.

It also never returns a negative conclusion. The agent will tell you a threshold appears crossed and show you the balances behind it; it will not tell anyone that a filing is unnecessary.

Questions about a specific situation belong with a licensed CPA, EA, or tax attorney.

If you're the one with the accounts

You are not a nuisance in this process, you are half of it. Nothing here asks you to learn a portal, understand a form, or decide anything about your own return.

One link, no account

Your accountant sends a link. No sign-up, no password, nothing to install. Come back to it whenever you find the next statement.

Send it however you have it

Photos, PDFs, a folder you never renamed — drop it all at once. You do not have to match anything to a list; it gets sorted and you are shown what went where.

Told what is wrong, and why

Wrong year, missing pages, a scan nobody can read — you find out on the spot, for that one item, instead of three weeks later in an email.

If you want to see your own position before anyone asks, you can run the same inventory on your own documents and see which thresholds your balances cross, with the dates that triggered them. What comes out is an organized file with its sources attached — built to hand to your CPA or EA, who makes the call and signs. If your preparer wants that intake lane under their own brand, talk to us.

Test the thresholds before March.
